Call to Order
Roll Call
Approval of Minutes (June 29th, 2011)
FYI Mr. John Merriweather, Code Abatement Officer, 618/638-4920, john_merriweather@yahoo.com
1. Update list of Abatements, Condemned properties, and Vehicles
2. Handout, (Notice to Abate) discussion
3. The following properties are up for discussion:
a. 310 Lindsey; Owner, Ms. Glenda K Dean
On Monday, the consensus of the City Council and the Mayor was to not sell this property, continue on with the demolition. Ronnie Meyers, has once again approached Mr. Mizell and the Mayor to purchase this property. Mr. Mizell explained to him that if we agree to let him purchase the property that Mr. Meyers would have to agree to repairs, install windows, doors, siding, roof, and cut the trees in the back and make it look presentable in (45 day). Mr. Meyers agreed to this.

b. 1507 Butler Street; This property went on the condemned list, owner Betty Collins Walters. Property sold to Sylvia Russelburgh. The parties have closed on the house and Sylvia has the deed. At this point, do we use the same paperwork, and continue on to condemn the property?

c. 702 East 5th Street; This property was on the abatement list, and the City has cut the grass. Now the door is open and kids going in and out, plus animals. Do we send a notice to the owner to board up the property, and secure it or the City take the steps to secure it.

d. 315 Scott Street; This property has continued to have yard sales and everything is in the front yard and complaints continue

e. 121 Hope Lane; This property was abated on 8/17/11 to move the sandbags to the curb. The neighbors have complained about the smell. The property is on the FEMA buy out list. On 8/30/11, Mr. Merriweather talked with the owner Kimberly Baldwin and she said Don Obermark is working for her and between him and Chad Murray said the City is supposed to remove the sandbags, which have now deteriorated.

4. Discuss Condemned Properties;

a. 202 Metropolis Street – Owner, Ms. Lana Hansford

b. 304 West 9th Street – Owner Clemar Riley

c. 819 Pearl Street – Owner Elmer Pullen

d. 813 East 6th Street – New on the list to discuss and send to the committee

e. 511 West 8th Street – Owners Otis, Mary & Harold Sparks

5. Discuss an ordinance requiring every home display an address
